As part of the extensive redevelopment at St Joseph’s College, Gregory Terrace, Unison Joints has proudly supplied over 530 metres of precision-engineered expansion joints to support the transformation of a six-level primary school building.

This landmark Brisbane project focuses on structural performance, safety, and long-term resilience—and our systems are built to deliver just that.
Fire-Rated & Code Compliant
The majority of joints installed feature our PyI fire-rated wall strips, all designed and manufactured in our Brisbane factory. These innovative wall joint systems are fitted with intumescent fire seals and are:

Liverpool Health and Academic Precinct Redevelopment
As part of the major redevelopment of the Liverpool Health and Academic Precinct in New South Wales, Unison Joints proudly supplied the complete range of expansion joint systems throughout the facility. This included floor, wall, and ceiling joints, as well as critical seismic-rated floor seals designed to accommodate multi-directional movement while maintaining safety and performance in a high-traffic healthcare environment.

Our systems were selected for their proven durability, compliance with relevant Australian Standards, and ability to integrate seamlessly with various flooring finishes across surgical theatres, public corridors, and service zones. The inclusion of seismic joints was essential due to the building’s structural design and performance requirements in the event of ground movement.

Equinix SY5 stands as the largest data centre facility operated by Equinix in Australia. As part of the company’s expansive Sydney metro network—comprising eight interconnected data centres—SY5 delivers extensive capacity, high-density colocation, and robust interconnection services.

Located in Sydney’s business and technology hub, SY5 is a multi-story, purpose-built facility designed to support critical IT infrastructure. It offers world-class security, power reliability, and advanced cooling systems, making it a premier choice for enterprise and cloud providers alike.

We have supplied over 700 metres of fire-rated expansion joints, installed in a variety of sizes and fire ratings. The systems incorporate intumescent strips and fire barrier expansion joint blankets. All products are certified to meet AS 1530.4 and BS 476 standards.

NEXTDC M3 Data Centre – Melbourne
NEXTDC M3 is a state-of-the-art facility in Melbourne, positioned as a critical digital gateway for southern Australia. Like SY5, M3 delivers secure, high-performance colocation services with extensive power, cooling, and connectivity infrastructure.

Our in-house technical team, comprising three engineers, is currently designing the fire-retardant systems for the NEXTDC M3 Data Centre in Melbourne. These systems will be manufactured at our Brisbane facility in the coming month

Expansion Joints are used in building construction to accommodate movements and shifts within a building – predominately due to thermal expansion and contraction or seismic activity. Movement joints essentially provide the flexibility that a building needs to move without causing structural damage.

Fire rating an expansion joint is a crucial aspect of building safety for several reasons: –

Fire Resistance:

Unisons fire rated expansion joint will help prevent the spread of fire from one section or level of a building to another. I the event of a fire our Pyro fire barriers within the expansion joints will help contain the fire to its origin point giving occupants more time to evacuate.

Compliance with Building Codes:

Building codes require fire-rated materials, including expansion joints, especially in multi-story or commercial buildings. Australia stringent codes are designed to protect occupants and the building structure in case of fire. Unisons fire barriers are tested and certified to AS 1530.4 and BS476.
